As v7 is slowly approaching us, it's obvious a lot of scripts will need to be updated. I've been asked a lot about whether I'm making updates available at the moment, will the scripts work right, etc. Here's some answers!
Soli's Scripts Beta Tester ProgramSounds fancy. Once I've finalized script updates on my end, I will be making a journal for this program, where everyone will have access to the newer versions. This will be for the beta testers who are testing v7, and still want their favorite scripts enabled and working. Remember, this will be at your own risk. If dA changes something that might make the script break, I'll work on updating it, and update the journal, so check the journal whenever I make it. Scripts that are currently planned to be on it are: Birthdays Menu, deviantSTATS, Shoutbox Link Adder, and Birthday Today. SuggestDD is still being considered.
What's going on with SuggestDD?I originally planned to make just a couple minor quick updates that made the script somewhat compatible with v7 (beta 2) - but then I slowly realized it won't work. I made these scripts a long time ago. And even now the site's design is still changing. I try to keep the same look and feel on dA to reflect onto my scripts, so everything seems smooth and .. just 'right' - which is hard when dA keeps changing!

So, I'm planning to
rewrite SuggestDD. The rewrite I believe will be made available in this SSBT program of mine. Most of the rewriting will be it's interface. It will be a bit more similar to dA Custom Usernames' design.
How long will this take?! I want to suggest DDs!!!I'm unsure whether I'll be done by the time v7 is released (cause I don't know when it will be...) but hopefully everything will be done in the near future. If not, try to keep suggesting DDs the
manual way. That's right, going to the FAQ, looking up the GM, sending a note. Why not put a little more effort?

Plus, the new notes design is awesome. And you should know your GMs by now.
If you are interested in any suggestions, let me know (Some may include being able to have an editable message
TC
HOW!?
Also, once you get over 100 the nd, st etc. is off the page.
It would be nice if the system could do an auto-check to make sure the GM hasn't stepped down, now with the 1 year policy there is a problem at times...
I would love to have it be able to add any suggestions I send also to a given collection
Would love the ability to see pending DD requests
Have it show you which have been given (not sure if that's possible)
All for now
And ah, good to know, the remake will definitely address any design glitches.
When GMs step down, it's up to whoever's in charge of faq 18 to update the list. If there's a mistake, you can report it using the report button that's implemented in SuggestDD.
I have no idea how to add deviations to collections, I'll look into it. And pending DD requests are impossible as the script just sends notes, that's all. It might be possible to implement a daily checker, where it checks today's DDs and checks your previous suggestions, then tells you in some kind of message. I'll look into that as well...
Thank you!
And pending DD requests are impossible as the script just sends notes, that's all.
I disagree, if you see this as a pending, then it is "pending" until it is selected for a DD. A simple fix would be to have it keep track of "Sent" items and as the titles are always the names, you have a list of all the "Pending" ones. This would also allow you to see which admins have read the notes yet.
Also another thought, the 1 minute limit is a pain in the arse. I like to browse for a while find 2 or 3 that I like over a period of time, then sit down and write at the same time.... The limit kinda sucks....
Thanks Solitude!
So you mean check the sent notes page to see if the titles are bolded or not/unread or not? Where exactly would I put that though? On the deviation page would seem kind of strange since you won't be visiting the page daily to check would you be? You could simply check your sent notes for the same purpose?
And the 1 minute limit is for the many bots/spammers that like to send pointless links and spam to users. Plus I like to think it gives GMs a small break between notes, rather than a mass inbox jump.
Oh ok, didn't realize that.
So you mean check the sent notes page to see if the titles are bolded or not/unread or not?
Yeah!
Where exactly would I put that though?
Well a natural spot would be to place a link on the DD page. It could maybe be a link that opens up and shows you them...?
You could simply check your sent notes for the same purpose?
Yes and no. I have currently sent over 2100 notes. When I go and chck to see if someone received a message, it's already on the third page....
And the 1 minute limit is for the many bots/spammers that like to send pointless links and spam to users. Plus I like to think it gives GMs a small break between notes, rather than a mass inbox jump.
Could you maybe make it so the send button is grayed out for 1 minute, but you can still type....?
I also was thinking, most moderators know about SuggestDD, but there are still a few (especially new ones) that may be clueless. It would be really nice if maybe you yourself (or possibly a few individuals) could stay on top of who the GM's are. Then whenever a new one comes, send them a note that says "Hello I am so and so, and I am a moderator of this app. We were wondering if you would be ok with DD suggestions with the title from SuggestDD". This could tell them abut it, and also those that say no, could have a note in the list that says something like "GM does note use SuggestDD".
It would take more human work but could be worth it.
And lastly, self DD giving is currently not allowed, however is by dA. Although I don't get why people might want to necessarily, it could be good to have it on.
Thanks so much for listening Solitude.
And the grayed out for 1 minute idea is actually a good idea, I'll have to work on that for the rewrite.
I would love to talk to all the GMs and find out if they support SuggestDD, but like you said it'll take a lot of human work. Plus I'm not completely up to date with who leaves and who doesn't. I basically check my reports page every couple days to see if somebody's reported an error in the list, which has worked pretty well so far.
And the self-DD-giving was something I thought wasn't accepted before, but I really feel like it shouldn't be anyway. I know some people suggest themselves, but I like that traditional shock of when one of your Deviations gets a DD from someone you don't know. It helps you meet new people too! XD Suggesting yourself, I feel is just a little egoistic. I've only gotten a few requests for it, so I don't think it's too much of a necessity for the community at the moment.
And no problem, I love hearing people's ideas and opinions! It's what has (and will) helped this script become full of great features.
If it works it's enough for me.
I see it only for some seconds, so.
